BODIES and Hearts

The BODIES exhibit in New York was really fascinating - for those who don't know, it's an exhibit that uses preserved human bodies to show the skeletal, muscular, nervous, circulatory, etc systems. They also show diseases of various body parts and various stages of fetal development.

There is a lot of controversy over the exhibit, which has been traveling since 2005. I thought it was interesting overall, though there were times when I wondered how the bodies were obtained, if family knew about it, etc (especially since I recently started reading Rebecca Skloot's The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, which deals with medical studies using human cells without consent). I'm still not really sure what to think about it all, but the bodies weren't doing anything obscene, and they were well-preserved, so I don't see much reason to get bothered by it. You can read more about it at Wikipedia, BODIES... The Exhibition, or Bodies Revealed.
