Firmoo For Me and For You

When my friend, Victoria posted about the great glasses she got from Firmoo, I thought "Maybe I need a new pair of glasses." It was time for my annual eye exam, and I usually got a new pair of glasses after the appointment.

Firmoo has tons of affordable frames (seriously affordable - some pairs are $8!), and you can search by the material they're made with, or the shape of the frames, or just "try on" every pair in the shop, like I did. You can upload your own photo, or use their webcam application to take one right on the site. Then you click the button next to any pair of glasses you like, and they put them on your face to see how it looks.


There are also pictures at the bottom of each page with people wearing the glasses. Real people, customers who have bought the frames. I love when sites do this, because I want to see how things look in real life, not on the set of a photo shoot.

I liked so many of their frames that I decided to wait to get some. Then the logical side of my brain clicked on: my prescription hasn't changed since I got my first pair of glasses in 11th grade. Any glasses that hadn't broken through the years, I still had, and could still wear. Besides that, I've been wearing contacts more in the past year.

Then I thought of the reason I wanted to get contacts. I don't need to wear glasses that often - I have a problem with distance, but it's only an issue when I need to read things that are far away, like the board in high school, or street signs when I'm driving in an unfamiliar place. While driving in sunny California and Arizona last summer, I had to wear my glasses, but really needed sunglasses to cut the glare. Have you ever tried to wear glasses and sunglasses? I know they're made of plastic, but they don't feel or look like it. While I treat my other sunglasses gingerly so they don't fall apart, the Firmoo glasses are well-made, and the stems don't wiggle around like my others do, even if I'm less gentle with them.

The prescription is on the whole lens, and is the same strength as any glasses lenses I've had. I wasn't sure how the tint would affect the vision, but there's no problem at all.



Like I said, I'm in love with the detailing on the sides.
